SMARTfit 2.0 offers cloud sign in. Previously, SMARTfit 1.x versions only offered local sign in.
SMARTfit is now on the cloud and is powered by Microsoft Azure. This means that systems no longer need a dedicated iOS/Android tablet. Data is securely stored and accessed via our mobile application using any device. This allows for advanced features such as empowering users to access their programs from any system (inpatient, outpatient, wellness and the local gym), groups (multiple sites sharing programming), remote training, remote client program design, global statistics, development of normative data and online software updates.
You are only required to use the cloud for controller management. This means you must have a cloud account to register a controller, update software, and manage the controller password (if you choose to set a password). You are not required to use the cloud for anything else. If you would like to continue using the app via local sign in, then you may continue to do so.
On the home page, select the red “switch database” icon. This will allow you to toggle back and forth from local sign in and cloud sign in. Note that data is not shared across sign in modes.
Your data is still accessible via local sign in. Upon sign up of a cloud account you will be asked if you would like to copy your old data to your new cloud account. Simply enter your local sign in credentials on this device when prompted, and your data will migrate to your new cloud account.
Cloud sign in is the recommended sign in for the SMARTfit app. It allows for you to take advantage of all that the SMARTfit app has to offer, such as data accessibility from any device (inpatient, outpatient, wellness and the local gym), groups (multiple sites sharing programming), remote training, remote client program design, global statistics, development of normative data and online software updates. To use cloud sign in, internet connection is required.
Local sign in is not the recommended sign in for the SMARTfit app. However, it is an alternative for those to use SMARTfit that do not always have internet connection. With local sign in, data accessibility is limited to the local device only. Accounts created in this mode do not have the ability to sync data to the cloud continuously.
Absolutely. Let’s explore the example of a doctor and patients using the SMARTfit cloud. At the time of sign in, the patient’s data is pulled from the cloud SQL database onto the local SQL database of the device. Our Azure App Service (server) is configured so that our app (client) can only download user data from an authenticated account, meaning a user who has signed in via HIPPA compliant Azure AD B2C. At the time of sign out or sign in of another user, data is wiped from the local database which provides storage and security benefits.
This ensures a minimal amount of data will actually be present on the local database at one time. For a patient sign in the local database would have data for one patient and for a doctor sign in the local database would have data for themselves and their patients.
The storage requirement of the SMARTfit app is very small as the size of the data being collected is very small. Even if a patient should have thousands of data points, it would translate to a small number of megabytes at most. The iPad running out of storage would not be an issue, as we handle the data load efficiently by only pulling data of the logged in user, and then wiping that data upon logout or login of another user.
User data is associated with a user across many tables using randomly generated user ID’s, so that the owner of the data cannot be identified with simple data analysis. Information hiding is used for sensitive information such as name, DOB, gender, etc.
Currently, data is only accessible in the app by the owner of the data, or a managing account that has been granted permission via a management request (similar to a friend request). SMARTfit uses the very secure Azure B2C identity management service developed by Microsoft to power our Sign Up/Sign In process, with data security being one of our top priorities.
Yes, later this year with the release of the public API and groups, profiles will be classified as either public or private (private is default). Data belonging to private profiles will not be able to be pulled via the API, unless it is pulled through group data retrieval calls which will be password protected by the group administrator. Data belonging to public profiles will be able to be pulled by anyone via the API. We will also be taking a look at further developing in-app analytics that can provide an easy export of this data.
No, by default your data will be private. By taking no action and leaving your account as private, your data will never be accessible in the public API.
After creating a cloud account, you can sign in and begin using your SMARTfit system as usual. If your controller has not been registered yet, you will be asked to register it.
You will be asked to register your controller after updating it to the latest controller software and guided through the process upon connecting. If you have not updated to the latest controller software, the app will guide you through the required controller software update upon your first time connecting to the controller.
Unregistering the controller can only be performed by the controller administrator. This would remove the current controller administrator from their role and remove the registration of the current license key. The next user to connect to the controller would be required to scan a valid license key to register the controller again. After connecting to the controller, select the controller on the Home tab, which will take you to the My Controller page. Select the “Unregister” option on this page.
The controller administrator is the user who is responsible for performing administrative duties for the controller, such as software updates, setting the controller password, and registering the controller with a software license. The controller administrator must perform these duties from a cloud account.
Changing the controller password can only be performed by the controller administrator. The controller password must be entered each time upon connecting to the SMARTfit controller if you choose to password protect it. After connecting to the controller, select the controller on the Home tab, which will take you to the My Controller page. Select the “Change Password” option on this page.
Mode determines what features and predesigned programming will be available when using the SMARTfit app. The three modes to choose from are Medical/Rehab, Fitness/Sports, Home Fitness/Sports.
License is the type of software license that your controller was registered with. The type of license that your controller has will determine what predesigned programming you will see and which modes your controller is compatible with. The three types of licenses are Medical/Rehab, Fitness/Sports, Home Fitness/Sports.
License keys will be assigned based on which license you have purchased. If you purchased your system prior to August 31 2020, your license will automatically be registered with the highest level options with the ability to switch between the Medical, the Commercial Fitness and the Home mode. If you purchased your system on September 1 2020 or later, you will have selected which license you would be purchasing at the time of placing your order.
In this case, when you power up and connect to the system, you will see the content relating to the license you purchased. For example, rehab clinics and hospitals will be assigned a medical/rehab license key. In addition, this license provides access to the commercial and home fitness/sports modes free of charge.
While a commercial fitness and sports facility will be assigned the commercial fitness/sports license key which also provides access to the home fitness and sports mode. Finally, a system purchased for home use will be assigned the home fitness license key giving homeowners easy access to content designed for every member of the family.
When you begin the registration process for a new controller, the app will prompt you to scan this license key using the QR scanning capabilities of the app. Once your controller is registered with your license key, you will not be able to register another controller with the same license key.
Medical/Rehab mode allows for full access to the SMARTfit platform. This mode will display predesigned programming specifically for the Medical/Rehab market with the addition of the Test tab. In the Test tab, users can run a variety of cognitive tests and dual task cost tests designed by leaders in the industry.
Fitness/Sports mode allows for full access to the SMARTfit platform. This mode will display predesigned programming specifically for the Fitness/Sports market.
Home Fitness/Sports mode allows for basic access to the SMARTfit platform. This mode will display the most important features of the SMARTfit platform, while enjoying a simpler user interface for home use. This mode will display predesigned programming specifically for the Fitness/Sports market.
